There are multiple routes up Horsetooth, some faster than others, but the fastest known time to the north summit is 26:17 (Nick Clark 8/25/09) <http://irunmountains.blogspot.com/2009/08/horsetooth-rock-fkt-attempt.html>.
The route for the record above begins at the upper Horsetooth parking lot, right by the park trail map. Take the singletrack trail to the Soderburg service drive and continue until hitting Horsetooth Rock trail. Take that all the way up, staying right at the first intersection and then left at the intersection with the Westridge trail. Follow the trail to the base of the north summit and scramble to the high point, which involves a bit of class III climbing. Route is 2.5 miles & 1,500'. Round trip: 43:54
Other times of note from Jonathan Vigh's website <http://jonathanvigh.com/outdoors/running/FKTs/FKT_progression.htm>:
Descent (south summit): 15:23 (Jonathan Vigh 10/3/07) Descent (north summit, via southrdige, Audra Culver): 15:36 (Jonathan Vigh 9/26/06)
Ascent via southridge, Audra Culver: 27:05 up, 44:37 r/t (Matt Bedoukian)

Went up the service drive route (Soderburg/Southridge). Encountered some slop and ice on the way, but as the route is faster than the footpath I was still able to get up in under my previous record, which I last did via the Horsetooth singletrack trail. I'm going to call this a soft record. The slop and ice added at least a minute. Route was info board (by toilets) back to info board.
26:05 to high point on rock.
16:46 down same route (which includes 10 seconds panting at top, and an icy fall on the rocky section just below Horsetooth).
R/T 42:51
