this is a bit contrived in my opinion. basing a course on some artificial/political lines. do we really need to go here.
the trail is very nice though, so just hike it for your own pleasure.

Kind of like how the PCT goes from Mexico to Canada.

There is a substantial history of recording times for things like this. Examples are the AT thru Shenandoah, the PCT across individual states (CA, OR & WA, see PCT page), and a long history of people running on roads across individual states. Mountain climbers do all the 14ers in Colorado, the highest point in every state or in every county of a state. Etc.! All these are equally arbitrary, but, well, most things have an arbitrary component.
