As I recall, this was a fun and low key race, more or less a training run. I ran the entire distance in 1995, but I do remember stopping to get off the trail and was waiting in line to get some gatorade and some type of energy bar and I think that I wasted at least five minutes off the trail, along with waiting in line at the convenience store. I was in such a hurry to get back on the trail that I just handed the store clerk $5 and headed out the door. In any event, it was a very "easy" run, and could have been faster, if I was pushed that day. No mad cyclists on that day, but sure had to watch yourself when crossing major roads. My 5:29 was solid, but I think it is still soft. After 19 years, you think somebody would have busted 5 hours on foot. In any event, it was still a very scenic and fun day to be out running and enjoying myself. I still enjoy being out on foot, and love the long run.
