Jeremy Platson, 42 of Hudson WI, set a new self-supported FKT for the Superior Hiking Trail from "270 overlook" to the future southern terminus at the Wisconsin border, with a total time of 8 days, 2 hours, 35 minutes. This occurred from September 17, 8:22 am to September 25, 10:57 am.
The following are my daily splits. The distances are approximate and I am not including times as I did not wear a watch and had my phone off to conserve battery.
Sat. Sept. 17: 270 overlook to lakewalk (35 miles). Sun. Sept. 18: lakewalk to Trout Creek (32 miles). Mon. Sept. 19: Trout Creek to Temperance River State Park (35 miles). Tues. Sept. 20: Temperance River State Park to Sonju Lake (31 miles). Wed. Sept. 21: Sonju Lake to Beaver River (37 miles). Thurs. Sept. 22: Beaver River to Fors Road (35 miles). Fri. Sept. 23: Fors Road to Lester River Shelter (48 miles). Sat. Sept. 24: Lester River Shelter to Palkie Road (45 miles). Sun. Sept. 25: Palkie Road to Wisconsin border (11 miles).
I had two resupplies, one at Temperance River and one at Gooseberry River and got a hotel in Two Harbors and rented a campsite in both Temperance River and Jay Cooke. In full disclosure, I received some aid/trail magic in the form of a cookie, some Gatorade, a few rides off trail and an unexpected hiking partner.

Hey Jeremy, congrats on your hike! I was curious if you have any GPS data to verify your trip? Typically if you're claiming the FKT you need to provide some record / data to prove your claim. Thanks!

Hey Jared, when I announced my intentions to try for an FKT I posted a link to my Spot GPS tracker which was available up until 2 days ago. Apparently Spot only archives that information for 30 days, I have tried to recover it and it appears to have vanished into the void of cyberspace. As I am not incredibly tech-savvy, any input would be appreciated, I would love to have a copy of that for my own records. Thanks for the interest!

Hello, my name is George Peterson and I will be making an UNSUPPORTED FKT attempt on the SHT, heading northbound from the Wisconsin border to 270 Degree Overlook, starting on Saturday August 26th 2017, at approximately 5am. I plan to finish the afternoon of Sunday, September 3rd. I have provided satellite tracking to several people, and will make the tracking record public afterwards if I am successful. I will also be recording GPS tracks of the trip and taking occasional photos and videos.

I was unsuccessful in my unsupported attempt as described above. I quit on the 6th day due to an injury. I made it 205 miles and averaged 34.3 miles per day. I started at 5:08am on August 26th at the southern terminus and I got off the trail at Cook County Rd 1 at 7:27pm on August 31st. Conditions were wet and rainy for the first three days, with about three inches of rain through the Duluth/Two Harbors area on Saturday.

Hi, I'm Zach McGill and on September 16th I will be attempting an Unsupported FKT of the Superior Hiking Trail. I will start at the 270 Overlook and head south. My goal is to cover 40 miles per day. I should have cell coverage most of the time and will share a live tracking link via my Garmin watch and the Garmin Connect app. I will also share photos as I go. I did a 9 1/4 day 250 mile thru hike in September this year from 270 to a trailhead short of Martin Rd. Not a record but not bad for a 50 year old. Loads of rain and mud on my trip. Definitely doable unsupported in dry summer months in 7 days for someone in great shape and not prone to blisters.
