The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail has been under construction for decades, and currently consists of 85 miles of trail, with (I believe) two breaks in continuity. Theoretically when it is completed it will consist of 101 uninterrupted miles of trail from Lake Erie to New Philadelphia. Has anyone heard of an FKT on this trail? I've been unable to find one. Additionally, if an FKT were to be attempted, would it be acceptable to run the entire 101 mile distance, taking the most direct route on roads at points of discontinuity? Would such a run still be valid after the trail is completed? Or would it be better to just run the longest stretch of uninterrupted trail rather than going from the lake to New Philadelphia?
