Across South Carolina (Trans-SC Run)
The ROUTE/PATH (*main stipulation*) must extend from the Blue Ridge Ecoregion, specifically the Southern Crystalline Ridges and Mountains, to the Southern Coastal Plain Ecoregion, specifically the Sea Islands/Coastal Marsh (on the beach or in the ocean). Check out Ecoregions here: newftp.epa.gov/EPADataCommons/ORD/Ecoregions/nc/ncsc_front.pdf. Start on the beach, or in the mountains, does not make a difference, but must include a portion on open sand beach adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean (not back side of barrier islands that are adjacent to marshes, rivers, bays, etc.) Use all roads, all trail, or a combination of both. All routes/distances will be different, but the The BARE MINIMUM mileage will be 265 Miles. **This is NOT the Palmetto Trail**
I will attempt to set/establish (please someone correct me if I'm wrong) the supported Fastest Known Time for the on-foot crossing of South Carolina (Trans-SC run )beginning on Thursday Nov. 2nd, 2017 at 10AM on the SC/NC Border (Route 276). My route will be approximately 300 miles and will travel through the three major metro areas (Greenville, Columbia, Charleston) and I will end of Folly Beach, SC - in the ocean near the Folly Beach Fishing Pier.
Live tracking will be available through the website I've set up for this (plenty of other information there too): runningforrivers.com/ (Garmin InReach tracker/website plugin coming soon) and daily GPS watch data will be uploaded to Strava: www.strava.com/athletes/7118234
Anyone and everyone is welcome to come out and observe, join for many miles, etc. Please email me at keith@runningforrivers.com if you're interested in setting that up ahead of time.
All the best,
Keith "Wildman" Hanson
