This thread is for hikers/runners to record their fastest ascents to either the top of the iconic Y above BYU campus in Provo, Utah, or to the top of Y Mountain itself, using the established Y Mountain Trail. Learn more about the Y from BYU Magazine's article "An Ode to the Y."

When I was at BYU from 1978 to 1981, I would run along the foothills from Rock Canyon to near the base of the Y every morning. I was running at about a 7 minute per mile pace at the time. One morning I ran up to the Y at full speed. If it is a mile as indicated on page 26, I probably did it in about 8 minutes, to be a bit conservative. I also ran down and went on my way. It was fun. No witnesses, though. It was just getting light.
