As is de rigueur for FKT attempts, I am posting my intention to do a double SCAR July 2-4. I hope to finish in under 3 days. I see (above) that Scott Simcox just upped the ante. Congrats on that. Unlike Scott, I plan to start/end at Davenport Gap. I completed the single back in December of 2016 and so am familiar with the terrain. Looking forward to this epic journey.

Quick report: I ended up needing to bail at Clingman's on the return. First day went perfectly (made it 49 miles from Davenport to Derrick Knob in a fairly leisurely 16 hours). Second and third days it rained a lot. This made the trail conditions considerably more difficult. On top of that, by day 3 I hadn't been able to get any food in (or keep it down) for quite a while. As I was throwing up along side the trail (nothing in my stomach) I serendipitously encountered two trail angels who ended up (ultimately) getting me back to my car. Much more detail than you'd ever want in a post I've written here.

Small world. I was running with Jason this last weekend and he said he had helped someone who was doing a double SCAR. I kinda figured I'd have more than 3 weeks before the record was in jeopardy!

I'm planning on attempting an FKT sometime between March 17-20. I'll post more details once I have them, but the exact date might depend a bit on the weather forecast.

I'm going to go ahead with this, and it looks like the weather should be decent on Sunday (March 18). Plan is to get a start at Davenport Gap just before first light. I will be completely unsupported.

The Delorme track seems to show a slightly longer time, with the first point at 05:25:00 and last one at 21:07:15. Did you get the time you report from John? Either way a pretty small margin! Anyway, we look forward to his full report! Congrats.

Anyway, we look forward to his full report! Congrats. I started the tracker a bit before starting to make sure it was working (I had never used one before) and didn't get around to turning it off until a bit after finishing. The time shown here from my watch is correct (the elapsed time, not the moving time): www.strava.com/activities/1460412454I'll do a full report sometime in the next few weeks and post it here, but definitely an incredible route, and much tougher than I had anticipated!
