While self-supporting, Phil Phelan set the FKT at 17 days and 16 minutes between May 19th - June 5th of 2015.
The Blue Ridge Parkway (470 miles) and Skyline Drive (105.5 miles) are both national scenic parkways that - combined - span continuously from Cherokee NC to Front Royal VA. Winding and yo-yoing along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this asphalt-paved odyssey provides a unique- and extremely scenic experience through the heart of the southern Appalachia's.
Phil Phelan began his journey at the southern terminus of the Blue Ridge Parkway (Cherokee NC) on May 19th 2015 at 2:53 pm. Averaging 34 miles a day, he then reached the northern terminus of Skyline Drive (Front Royal VA) on June 5th 2015 at 3:09 pm. The grand total was 575.5 miles (plus resupply) with an elevation change of around 99,851'.
