I'd love to read a report on how you pulled this off. It's a really impressive time for such a long unsupported distance.

I’m announcing my attempt to establish a women’s FKT (unsupported) on the Colorado Trail with an eye toward Shawn Forry’s 2012 time on the Colorado Trail. I spoke to Shawn last week and thank him and many others for insights and advice on this project. I’ll be using a DeLorme InReach for verification. It’s connected to my twitter account: @destinationepic and Facebook page: Destination Epic. I plan to depart Sunday morning August 3rd from Waterton TH.

Good afternoon, I abandoned my attempt yesterday for the women's unsupported record and have posted a trip report on facebook.com/destinationepic. In short, my heart wasn't in it this time. In long, I learned a lot and look forward to another attempt at some point.
Huge respect and admiration for both the current and former record holders as well as through hikers.
For anyone wishing to do this in the interim, I'm your hugest first fan.
Until next time, Wendy

Hi Peter,
The CT now has Collegiate West route in addition to the traditional Collegiate East route. FKT for the Collegiate Loop of 160 miles (roughly 80 miles on East and 80 miles on West) and the CT with the Collegiate West route will probably be occurring sometime in the near future. And, who knows, maybe a nearly 1,000 mile FKT for the CT done twice with both the Collegiate West and Collegiate East routes (Denver2Durango2Denver).

I'm curious as to what the info there is on a current self-supported FKT for the CT? In any case, I will be attempting a self supported trek beginning July 6th, going northbound from Durango to Denver using the Collegiate West option. I have not seen any information on a current self supported FKT but am aiming for ~50 mile days and finishing somewhere between Shawn Forry's unsupported mark of 10 days, 19 hours, 5 minutes and Scott Jaime's supported time of 8 days, 7 hours, 40 minutes. I'll be picking up food resupplies at Molas Campground, Monarch Crest Souvenir Shop, and McCoy's Mountain Market. Outside of this, I will not have any other pre-arranged support. Those interested can follow my SPOT data through trackleaders here: trackleaders.com/cti.php?name=Brandon_Stapanowich. Brandon Stapanowich

I will be putting together a more thorough trip report soon but for now, here are the basics: I started a self supported trip on the CT from the Junction Creek TH in Durango at 5:00 am on Wednesday July 6th and finished my trip at 7:28 pm on Friday July 15th at the Waterton Canyon TH. This equates to a time of 9 days, 14 hours and 28 minutes. I chose the Collegiate West route for bigger views. Along the way I was met by Tim Bergsten from Pikes Peak Sports around Twin Lakes (interview here: www.pikespeaksports.us/video/brandon-stapanowich-about-310-miles-into-his-self-supported) and Brian Rawlings, Alex Nichols, Dan Vega, Karen Kantor, and Tim Bergsten at the finish (finish interview here: www.pikespeaksports.us/video/brandon-stapanowich-sets-fkt-for-self-supported-thru-hike-of). Friends (Kelly, Anna, Billy) individually accompanied me on three occasions to share miles for about an hour each on days 1-3 but otherwise I completed the trip alone. I received no support outside of my 3 resupply points at Molas Pass Campground, Monarch Crest Souvenir shop, and McCoy's Mountain Market. The isolated and self supported nature of the event presented novel and unique challenges that tested me deeply but have left me with an even deeper sense of satisfaction. Again, stay tuned for a more detailed report...Thanks Peter for hosting this site!

Hi folks, just finished up my unsupported CT hike yesterday. Started on July 11 4:55am at Waterton and finished July 20 5:27pm for a time of 9d12h32m. Like Brandon, will have a more detailed report soon. Was nice meeting him briefly on day 3 (his day 8). Funny how the record held for 4 years and then is broken twice in the same week.

Hello all, I am planning a somewhat "spur of the moment" FKT for CT thruhiker style, unsupported.
I will go west to east and use Collegiate west route like Brandon Stapanowich just used. Bravo to him! Awesome time!
The odds of me breaking his record are close to zero. I though on off chance I succeeded, I should probably post my FKT attempt per protocol.
I will have a spot tracker. I'll post link when I figure that out.
By self-supported, I mean thru-hiker style. I will have zero planned outside help from anyone. I will resupply at stores.
Cheers, Dre'
