Rainbow Trail (CO)

The Rainbow Trail is one of the longer hiking trails in Colorado, after the Colorado Trail and the Colorado section of the CDT. It runs roughly parallel to the Sangre de Christo mountains in the South Central part of the state, starting at one end south of Westcliffe and at the other end south west of Salida, forming an upside-down J. The trail is roughly 100 miles long with around 24,000 ft of gain according to a TOPO! map of the route. 

On Sunday, July 13, I, Cory Linfield, will attempt to run this trail in its entirety, starting at the Southeast end and finishing at the Northwest end. I will be supported by my wife, Allisa Linfield and some friends.

I finished the Rainbow Trail in a time of 30:58:38 on Monday, July 14, 2014. There is a complete writeup at: Rainbow Trail FKT report . This was my first attempt at this distance and there was a lot of learning along the way. I also have 3 Strava files of my run:

I'll be attempting to break Cory's FKT (with the help of Cory) and establish the trail for females on Sept. 26th. I'll post a follow-up report after!
