Andrew Skurka set the FKT at 4h46m32s (CCW) on 16 August 2017.Anton Krupicka ran the loop CCW from Long Lake TH in 4h50m40s on 4 September 2010.The Pawnee Pass (12,541') - Buchanan Pass (11,837') Loop is a terrific, tough and super scenic 26-mile route in Colorado's Indian Peaks Wilderness. Here is a nice trip report on the route from Charles Danforth (from which I took the map and photo). More photos are here. Some reported times are below. The fastest so far is Andrew Skurka at 4h46m32s. This was running CCW and did close the loop (times should be reported for a closed loop including the short paved section.) Skurka gives some splits and a link to his GPS track below. Skurka's time beat that of Anton Krupicka (4h50m40s, 4 September 2010) by just 4 minutes. Krupicka's splits are also given below, along with a link to a short trip report. route map from Charles Danforth photo by Charles Danforth

Thanks for the link, Peter.
I know it's not even close to fast, but our time was ~9 hours (Ehret/Danforth '09). Let any challengers come forward ;-)

I ran this loop yesterday. I was running pretty hard but not really red lining it because I was alone and didn't want to trip and hurt myself. I meant to announce it ahead of time on this forum but I only had Internet access on my iPhone and this forum wasn't really working with that. I'm claiming a time of 6:23:14. Here is my trip report: www.isaiahjanzen.com/2010/07/running-buchanan-pawnee-passes-loop.htmlSome background since I am new to this forum. I ran the Presidential Range in New Hampshire in about 8 hours in September last year with my college cross country team. I also ran a double marathon "fun" run on Cape Cod on May 9th 2009 because a few of my college track team members and I wanted to see how far we could run. I am really more of a "short" distance specialist with a 10k PR of 32:58 and half marathon PR of 1:17:06 on a hilly course.

It would be helpful if you would give your full names. People want to know who holds the FKT!

Wow, that was on the same day as me. I remember seeing two pretty fast runners going CW near the base of the Buchanan Pass trail on the west side. That must have been Ben K and Johannes R.

I ran this loop yesterday (September 4, 2010) in the counter-clockwise direction in 4:50:40. Started and finished at the Long Lake trailhead. Have a short trip report here ( www.runnersworld.com/antons-mountain-musings/the-buchanan-pawnee-pass-loop) (with photos from a previous run from earlier this summer in the Cascade Creek drainage). Putting some focused effort into it, I think it could definitely be run in the mid- to low-4hr range. However, it's a TOUGH and beautiful circuit!
