Ashley Nordell ran the OHT in 2d10h46m, October 27-29, 2017.Jenny Foster ran the OHT in 2d14h25m in January 2009.Steve Kirk & Greg Eason have the men's FKT, 2d16h34m, March 2004.The Ozark Highlands Trail stretches 165 miles through northwest Arkansas. It was built, and is maintained, by the Ozark Highlands Trail Association. Some beautiful photos from the trail are on this site. Steve Kirk and Greg Eason of Little Rock, AK, ran the trail in 2d16h34m in March 2004, as reported on this Arkansas Democrat Gazette site. (Kirk and Eason later set the FKT for Arkansas' Ouachita Trail.) Starting on January 24, 2009, Jenny Foster lowered the record by just over 2 hours, to 2d14h25m, as reported here. Ashley Nordell further lowered the FKT to 2d10h46m (Oct. 27-29, 2017), as reported below. Ozark Highlands Trail Map

Record still stands.... Runners faced several factors that resulted in a heroic attempt.

Is it safe to assume the runners (both the original and current record holders) were supported? If so, is there an unsupported record for this trail?

I would like to know the same...supported vs unsupported...solo vs. partner/team.

Unfortunately, the links to those trip reports appear to be broken. As far as I can tell, Jenny Foster's trip was supported & pace, but I don't know about Kirk & Eason. Maybe someone can contact them and find out. I believe Steve Kirk directs a race or two in that area, so he should be findable with a little time on Google.

I'd like to reactivate this thread. I have been doing research for the unsupported fkt on a few trails locally in AR. I cannot find the data either. I plan to attempt an unsupported fkt this spring on the 165mile OHT. If there is no record available, then maybe my time can set a base line for this trail. I was also looking at doing it with a partner for safety reasons of course, but we would not support each other technically and may travel at different speeds ultimately. If anyone else is interested in this unsupported fkt, let me know. Thanks.

According to this report (piltdownoutdoor.com/blogs/news/43762820-thru-hiking-the-oht), the current unsupported FKT stands at 4 days, 13 hours, and 53 minutes. I'm also interested in attempting an unsupported thru-hike, but I was thinking of trying in November because I have a week off from school.

I intend to attempt an unsupported FKT (solo) on the Ozark Highlands Trail next week, likely departing early Thursday morning.

I'm planning an unsupported FKT attempt of the OHT in the Spring of 2017.

Trying for the supported record later this week. In good hands with previous record holders Steve Kirk and Greg Eason.
