Hello all, Just wondering if any one has heard of any unofficial fkt's in Baxter State Park, specifically the Traveller? I recently ran a 13.4 mile loop there and couldn't find any accounts of any on the Traveller, let alone in BSP, a beautiful but remote park. www.baxterstateparkauthority.com/maps/hiking.htmI couldn't add the PDF as it was too big but on the link above, click on the "South branch pond link for the PDF. I started and finished at the South branch pond campground going up the South branch mtn trail, to the Pogy notch trail to the Center ridge trail to the Traveller summit , to the Traveller mtn trail and down the North Traveller trail. I would like to submit my Suunto data, my photos of my watch with trail signs, my race resume and get an account from a friend who met me up there for verification of my time as a baseline fkt. I just wanted to see if any one had heard of anyone else doing this loop in a fast time, or anything in wholly in BSP for that matter. Thanks for your time everyone and hope to hear something soon. So here is my Suunto data from my run up and over South Branch mtn and then up and around the Traveller in BSP. It was 13.41 miles, with 5154 feet of elev gain. I did it in a time of 4:23:45 Traveller movescount.com dataAlso, gpx and kml files, along with a little more information, are available on my blog. You Start and finish at the South Branch pond ranger station. The trailhead is at the Northwest end of Lower South Branch Pond and about 50 meters from the rangers cabin. There is a sign in post and sign in box there and you cross the main outflow of the pond (Branch Ponds Brook) immediately upon starting. I took GoPro pix during the run but they didnt come out very well with sweat smears on the lens. You can just make out the times on my watch however and I see that I can only attach 3 files. so here they are; The first is at the junction of the Pogy Notch trail and the southern end of the South Branch Mtn trail. I made all these pix high enough rez to zoom in and see the time on the watch. The second is at the Traveller summit and the third is at the North Traveller summit. I met a friend who was hiking the opposite way on the loop just before the N. Traveller summit who can vouch for my being there if needed. She writes a blog for the Bangor Daily News called, Trees with the fur on. I also am an RD for a race in Mascarene, New Brunswick, Canada called The Herring Run and my website for that is www.hackmatacktrailracing.com. My trail racing resume can be found there as well on my blog, race resume. Thanks Peter for having this site and hope this sticks and gets more folks up to Baxter State Park despite their strict rules and unfavourable treatment of Scott Jurek. It really is a beautiful Park.
