Hi all, a question about unsupported trips. Do fishing, hunting, or scavenging natural food resources in other ways qualify as being unsupported?
Technically, you are resupplying. But the elements of skill and luck are so important that it's clearly distinguishable from walking into a restaurant or picking up a dropped cache.
However, if the spirit of being "unsupported" has a significant focus on the weight of the consumables being carried, then I can understand that taking natural food resources falls under more of a vague categorie.
Thoughts?

Gathering food from natural sources should be OK for unsupported. For most people this is impractical or just doesn't make sense as carrying the extra weight will slow you down way less than taking time to hunt or collect foods from nature. But, it could allow you to do a very long trip in very pure unsupported style.
