Santiago Carsolio set the FKT for Iztaccihuatl, 7h05m RT (4h13m ascent), 21 April 2015Iztaccihuatl (5230m) is the third highest summit in Mexico. It is located in Iztaccihuatl-Popocatepetl National Park. summitpost.com has information on the peak and the normal climbing routes. On 21 April 2015, 19-year-old Mexican mountain runner Santiago Carsolio ran Iztaccihuatl in 7h05m round trip from the town of Amecameca. His ascent time was 4h13m for a vertical gain of about 3000m. Carsolio carried two GPS watches, which he switched at the summit due to short battery life. He recorded a round trip distance of 42km.
