My friend Erik and I are planning on doing the West Rim Trail. I looked around and did not find any previous run records. We are planning to set the men's and women's unsupported records. He will head out about 10 minutes before my start so we will not cross paths. We are carrying all of our own food and will only refill bottles from sources along the course. We are both wearing GPS watches and carrying cameras. Will we be starting off on Wednesday May 1st. We will update with photos and info after.

I started out at 8:25 am on the 1st and completed the run. I lost the trail a few times and had to take the map out and find the trail. There were a ton of trees down, but this was a really great trail. This was the first time that I had ever been on the trail. I finished up in 6:31, which was much slower than I was planning, but I am dying to go back and do it again to lower the time. I made the mistake of not refilling bottles along the way. I wore my garmin 110 and my timex marthon. The trail measures 30.5 miles, my garimin measured 29.06, and my timex says 31.5. I am hoping to go back again this summer and give it another go.

It would be great if you would give more info, such as for example where this trail is, links, and your name (so we know who to attribute the FKT to!) Thx!
