Does anyone know of a fkt (supported or unsupported) for the Batona Trail in New Jersey? The trail is a 49.5 mile trail through the Pine Barrens. Thinking of training for this but I wasn't sure if there was a mark already out there.

I don't know of one and was thinking of giving the trail a try in full early 2013. If you go before then you can give me something to shoot after. Also, if you need any assistance I am relatively nearby.

A running buddy and I did the Batona west to east last November. Started and finished in the dark, about 25 degrees when we started, the day warmed up into the high 50s. Ran it unsupported but had stashed some liquids at the Caranza monument previous to the run. Did it for fun and really took our time. We ran it from trail head to ranger station where our car was so the whole thing was about 52 miles. Really bonked after the sun went down at 43 miles. Our leisurely time was 14:28 so if that is the only time posted the bar is pretty low! Good luck.

I have no record of it, but I did it solo in 2007 in sub 10 hours. Watch out for deer ticks! I got covered as with sand.

On the 19th, there is going to be a point to point FA run on this trail. I am participating (unless we see bitter cold and snow) so I hope to set a supported FKT. Due to some re-routing the trail is now apparently 53 miles long point to point.

and he did. Congrats Mike for an awesome run. Way to get an FKT starting at 25 degrees at 7am on some pretty wet trails.

Thanks, Denis! You were great support out there! Here is the Garmin data connect.garmin.com/activity/432825851And the time difference was because I actually had started to keep going because I hadn't realized I reached the end. Blog recap will follow.
