Jenny Foster ran the OHT in 2d14h25m in January 2009. The Ozark Highlands Trail stretches 165 miles through northwest Arkansas. It was built, and is maintained, by the Ozark Highlands Trail Association . Some beautiful photos from the trail are on this site . Steve Kirk and Greg Eason of Little Rock, AK, ran the trail in 2d16h34m in March 2004, as reported on this Arkansas Democrat Gazette site. (Kirk and Eason later set the FKT for Arkansas' Ouachita Trail .) Starting on January 24, 2009, Jenny Foster lowered the record by just over 2 hours, to 2d14h25m, as reported here . Record still stands.... Runners faced several factors that resulted in a heroic attempt.

Is it safe to assume the runners (both the original and current record holders) were supported? If so, is there an unsupported record for this trail?

I would like to know the same...supported vs unsupported...solo vs. partner/team.

Unfortunately, the links to those trip reports appear to be broken. As far as I can tell, Jenny Foster's trip was supported & pace, but I don't know about Kirk & Eason. Maybe someone can contact them and find out. I believe Steve Kirk directs a race or two in that area, so he should be findable with a little time on Google.

Steve and Greg were supported.
